2005-05-27 the advantages of a mexican family

when i get a job i'm also going to get a car because i really like going place in the rain in the car but i don't like going places in the rain without a car because i don't like getting wet. i don't mind a little rain. and a little wet. but all it does in boston lately is rain and rain and rain. today is the best day we've had in so long and it's cloudy, not raining (yet) and about 65 or 70. me and my puppies are at emack. they like it here because they get a lot of attention from the passerby's on the street. and i like it here because the iced coffee is the best in town (much better then the finnish bakery) but the problem is that the internet at emack is cut off after 2 hours. which is not really a problem for me, especially with the puppies because i wouldn't keep them out there that long anyway.
i'm excited for tomorrow for the brewery tour and for the doyles brunch. it's so funny that we haven't been there yet. because we keep meaning to. but it worked out with acapulco, the mexican restaurant we wanted to get to down the street, because that turned out to be super authentic and yummy. and the best part about it is that when my dad comes into town we can take him there. cause it's super good and he loves super good authentic mexican food. he used to take us to remote areas of the minneapolis/st. paul area in search of the most authentic mexican food. and so far every place we've tried with him has been bad for one reason or another. the first place in eden prairie or something had pretty decent food but the ambience was really cheesy, like a don pablos (cheesy mexican chain). and one of the other places was more urban, near n. minneapolis, and the food was pretty average, but the worst part was that it wasn't really meant to be a sit-in restaurant, everything we ate off was plastic or styrofoam (keep in mind that my dad was trying to give us a night out experience type thing) and there was a woman who insisted on cleaning the floors with some sort of really strong bleach while we were eating. after a little while my mom mentioned something to her, because she was not happy with the situation (who can even taste their food when the smell of bleach is so strong?) but then the cleaning woman just moved a little ways away and the problem continued. so now i feel bad for my dad and his quest for the best mexican food. and why i will be happy to show him the one down the street because we already taste tested it and i know that he will really like it. my parents used to call our family the frankelsteins or something like that, which i never understood, but i understood that it meant that things did not really go as they were planned for our family. we are a comedy of errors. all of us together. and by all of us i mean my immediate family. all craziness unleashes when my immediate and my extended family get together. yeah, so be careful around us. i try to, but it hardly ever works to my advantage.
